The Man With the Power of the Stars…

Ted Knight is one of the premier physicists of his time.  His primary creation, the Cosmic Rod was able to manipulate energy and gravitational fields.  Ted was inspired by his cousin, Sandra Knight, the Phantom Lady, to use his gifts as a super hero.  Ted did so and joined the All-Star Squadron and the Justice Society of America and served for a while until two events in his life caused him to be committed in an asylum for a while.

Ted was instrumental in assisting the U.S. Government develop the first atomic bomb.  The guilt Ted had over this once he saw what happened when the bomb was exploded was heartbreaking, while he believed in the strength of the allies cause, civilians were the ones who truly paid the price for this weapon.  The second event, was his girlfriend, Doris Lee, was murdered which crushed what was left of his spirit.

Ted committed himself and his good friend Dr. Charles McNider, Dr. Mid-Nite took over the duties of Starman until Ted regained his faculties.  Ted rejoined the JSA after the JSA exited retirement and adventured with them again.

Powers

Genius - Ted has an amazing scientific mind.  When Ted’s works are examined by history he is considered a peer of many great men born before their time, like da Vinci, Galileo, or Newton.

Vulnerabilities

Ted is a normal human being with no special protections from injury.

Mental Instability – Due to events in his life, Ted suffered a mental breakdown for a time always leaving his sanity as a matter of concern for him and loved ones.

Skills

Gadgeteer/Inventor – Ted’s scientific genius led him to build his weapons and the weapons used by the Star-Spangled Kid and a generation of heroes after him.

Equipment

Cosmic Rod/Gravity Rod – The Cosmic Rod and Gravity Rod both seem to control electromagnetic forces enabling Ted the following powers.
