Silent Knight

Shhhhhh!

Brian Kent is a 6th century squire who had a tumultuous upbringing.   His mother having died shortly after his birth, his father Sir Edwin Kent was ruler of one part of a stretch of land while his fellow knight Sir Oswald Bane was ruler over another part.   Bane however was deceitful and power hungry and sought Kent’s lands for his own.  Kent and Bane often “play” dueled for sport and one time Bane gave Kent a set of weapons that were defective and allowed Bane to not only win but to make it look like an accident.

Alone and orphaned, Brian fell under Sir Bane’s rule as a result of this treachery, however Bane’s work was not done for Brian would grow up to become his father’s heir to those lands that still belonged to the Kent line.  Bane sent the boy off to learn to be a knight under the tutelage of Sir Grot, a geriatric knight, but Grot knew that if Brian ever became a true knight Bane would have the boy murdered. Grot conspired to make the boy look incompetent when he knew Oswald was watching the training, for if Brian became a real threat, he would be killed.

One day Brian was following his father’s falcon through the forest and found some knightly armor, helm, and tunic and put them on and the Silent Knight was born.  Brian did not speak as the Silent Knight to hide his true identity.  The ruse worked and the Silent Knight was never confused for the bumbling Brian.  Lord Bane was in fear of the Silent Knight and as such Brian was able to bring peace to the lands.
