Sandman

The Waking Prophet…

The Sandman is Wesley Dodds, a man who began to have prophetic dreams of crime and criminal activities.  Pairing this with his natural inventive self, Dobbs fashioned himself one of the original mystery men of the 1930s.  Acting in the shadows, the Sandman would strike at the villains with uncanny accuracy.

Together with his long time girlfriend, Dian Belmont, and his sidekick Sanderson “Sandy” Hawkins who was Dian’s nephew and became Sandy the Golden Boy, the three frequently fought crime together with Dian doing most of the leg work of the investigation to assist Wesley in interpreting his dreams.

The Sandman’s greatest defeat occurred when Sandy was turned into a grotesque monster of Sand and it was only until Sandy was cured that Wesley exited out of his retirement after the JSA had officially retired in the Communist witch hunts of the 1950s.
