Robotman – Robert Crane

The Metallic Man…

Robert Crane was a scientist in the 40s who was attempting to perfect a way to keep a brain functioning when the body processes had ceased.   Along with his assistant, Charles Grayson, they toiled at length at what seemed like a plausible plan.   Sometime in 1941 the scientists were in the lab when criminals set about to take their invention.   Mortally wounding Crane, the villains escaped and it was up to Grayson to save his cohort.

Grayson transplanted Robert’s brain into the robot body they had built, but this left Grayson the obvious suspect of a horrific murder.   Though Crane was horrified of being robbed of his humanity, he knew he had to clear his friend.   Crane adopted a new identity as Paul Dennis and found the criminals who killed him and brought them to justice, clearing Grayson of all wrong doing.

Calling himself Robotman, Crane was drafted into the All-Star Squadron as other mystery men were and serviced as one of its core members.

Powers

Robert Crane has no intrinsic super powers, all of his special abilities are derived by the robotic suit he wears.

Vulnerabilities

Equipment Failure – On occasion Robotman does need to have his brain transplanted into another shell when one has become too damaged to function properly.

Lost Humanity – Robert feels a sense of loss and despondency since he no longer is human.

Metal Hide – Like all characters with significant amounts of metal, Robotman is especially susceptible to magnetic attacks.

Skills

Inventor – An ingenious man, Robert was able to envision a way to stop death, through mechanized means.

Scientist – An obvious skill level in the area of robotics and medicine was necessary to build the Robotman suit.

Equipment

Robot Suit – Robert’s suit gives him many abilities.

  • Armored Hide – Robotman’s outer casing is very difficult to penetrate.
  • Enhanced Speed – Robotman can move quicker than a normal human.
  • Enhanced Vision – Robotman’s “eyes” can see more than the regular human eye can.
  • Life Support   - Without his suit functioning, Robert would die.   The suit provides oxygen and the necessary nutrients for his brain to continue to function.
  • Super StrengthRobert can bend steel girders with ease.
