Flash – Jay Garrick

The Speedster of the Golden Age…

Jay Garrick had fallen asleep while he was in his college laboratory and he inhaled some Heavy Water fumes which enabled him to run at superhuman speeds.  Jay became the hero in residence of Keystone City, married his girlfriend Joan, and became a founder of the Justice Society of America and the All-Star Squadron.

Jay served as a hero until the time that the JSA chose to retire rather than to reveal their secret identities to the House Un-American Activities Committee during their communist witch hunts.  Retirement did not last long for Jay however as he was soon drawn into an adventure that would cause him to meet his Earth-One counterpart, Barry Allen, in A Flash Of Two Worlds

Soon after the rest of the JSA became reactivated and they would meet up with the Justice League every year around Thanksgiving to usually fight some massive crisis that would threaten the DC Multiverse.  Jay continues to serve as the JSA’s speedster to this day and is a close friend of Flash Barry Allen and Wally Kid Flash.

Powers

Super Speed – Jay is the premier speedster of Earth-Two and can run at magnificent speeds.

Vulnerabilities

Jay is a normal human being and is vulnerable to the same dangers as you or I, however his speed makes him inordinately difficult to target necessitating a surprise area attack that he could not possibly escape.

Skills

Scientist – Jay’s fondness for science, which gave him his powers in the first place, stayed with him throughout the years.

Equipment

Mercury Helm- Flash’s hat, is meant to evoke the ancient god Hermes/Mercury of the Greek/Roman pantheon.  Jay’s helmet is made of a durable, reflective metal that he has used before as a thrown weapon or to reflect light off of in order to blind opponents.
