The Playful Precog…

Nura Nal of the planet Naltor is the daughter of one of Naltor’s rulers, called The High Seer.  All Naltorians have the gift of precognition, or the ability to predict what is going to happen prior to the event with startling accuracy.  Nura’s mother was blessed with such vision that she rose through the ranks and became The High Seer.

Nura’s sight while young showed great promise and she was instantly groomed to follow in her mother’s footsteps.  The role of High Seer is not an easy one and it weighed heavily on Nura’s mother until she died in office, leaving Nura and her younger sister Mysa to fend for themselves.

Mysa was an outcast on Naltor as she did not possess the ability to see into the future.  Mysa left Naltor and began a quest of her own to achieve greatness, while Nura continued studying under the new High Seer, Beren.  Eventually, Nura saw a vision in which she saw seven Legionnaires die in a spacecraft accident.

This spurred her on to join the Legion of Super-Heroes by demonstrating her abilities, and lets face it, it was a land slide vote, all the boys said yes and all the girls said no.  Dream Girl achieved her plan making sure that all the Legionnaires in the accident were suspended from the Legion so they could not be involved in the accident.  Of course, the accident Dream Girl saw was a decoy space craft manned by robots dressed in Legion uniforms.   Once this was discovered, Nura resigned from the Legion, though she did spark up a romance with Star Boy and joined the Legion of Substitute Heroes to refine her skills.

Star Boy managed to save Dream Girl from her ex-boyfriend Kenz Nuhor, but he wound up killing Kenz instead and despite Nura’s testimony, Star Boy was expelled and he went and joined the Legion of Substitute Heroes.  When Superboy and Supergirl were forced to resign from the Legion due to a cloud of Kryptonite surrounding Earth, Star Boy and Dream Girl took their places as Sir Prize and Miss Terious.  This story also revealed that Dream Girl’s sister Mysa had been turned into an evil hag.  As a result of Dream Girl’s study, she had learned the magic to reverse her sister’s state and the Hag became the White Witch instead.

Dream Girl continued to serve in the Legion often providing vital information at key moments that would turn the tide.

Powers

Precognition – Nura has the ability to predict the future.  Usually she will receive waking visions however when she sleeps she sometimes will receive more powerful visions.  In combat, Nura can sometimes predict the moves an opponent will make, making her more dangerous than most opponents believe at first.

Vulnerabilities

Nura is a normal humanoid female who has the same vulnerabilities as you or I, however her precognition can make her difficult to hit in combat.

Skills

Martial Artist – Knowing that precognition would not be enough to cut it in the Legion, Nura studied heavily under fellow Legionnaire Karate Kid in hand-to-hand combat.

Scientist – Nura is an accomplished biomedical engineering scientist.  She was responsible for changing Lightning Lass’ powers from electricity to making objects super light weight.  She has also assisted Brainiac Five in a few operations at his request.

Vamp – Nura uses her looks and her extensive flirtation skills to keep others off balance and so they will underestimate her, however a lot of the Legionnaires realize this is just an act and Dreamy is quite the smart cookie, though the female Legionnaires do watch their men around her.

Equipment

Legion Flight Ring – All Legionnaires wear a ring which enables them to fly, communicate with each other across the distances of space, call for assistance, or locate other Legionnaires.

Legion Transuit – A transparent spacesuit that activates automatically in the event of a vacuum.
