The Blind Physician…

One evening Dr. McNider was on a call to remove a bullet from a man who was slated to testify against mobsters shortly. While McNider operated on the shooting victim, a mobster lobbed a grenade into the room killing the suspect and blinding Dr. McNider. Believing his days of life saving medicine behind him, Charles sunk into a depression until a large owl flew into and broke a window in his house. Upon removing his bandages, Charles discovered that he could see in perfect darkness but was blind in the light. Suffering from a bizarre “inverted” vision, Dr. McNider decided to use this to his advantage and created the persona of Dr. Mid-Nite to combat organized crime.

Pet – Hooty/Hootie – Owl – Hootie the Owl is Dr. Mid-Nite’s pet and symbol. Hootie is trained to do some simple tasks and will come when the Doctor summons him.
