Blue Beetle – Ted Kord

The Bug In The System…

Theodore “Ted” Kord is the inheritor of the Blue Beetle mantle.

Ted needed his former archaeology professor, Dan Garrett’s assistance and while on this case, Dan was mortally wounded.  Dan gave Ted the Blue Beetle scarab, but Ted could not get it to work for him.  However, Ted took his promise to carry on the legacy of the Blue Beetle seriously and used his scientific mind to do so.

Ted trained to the peak of athletic and fighting prowess, invented weapons for him to use and constructed The Bug, his flying means of transportation.  Ted took to the streets fighting for the little guy, always using his brain to outwit his opponents.

Powers

Ted has no super powers as the Blue Beetle.

Vulnerabilities

Ted is a normal human and as such as normal vulnerabilities.

Skills

Acrobatics - Ted has a keen sense of balance and is a very skilled acrobat which enables him greatly with his quirky fighting style.

Genius - Ted is a brilliant inventor and has made most of his own equipment.  His skills include computer, gadgets, vehicle, and weapons construction or deconstruction as the case may be.

Martial Artist - Ted is an above average hand-to-hand combatant, but prefers to use his wits to solve his battles for him.

Stealth - Ted’s tech lends itself to a quiet approach and he has a lot of experience in infiltration and subterfuge.

Equipment

The Bug – Blue Beetle’s Bug  is the way Blue Beetle gets to where he needs to be.  Ted has a zip line that he uses to get into and out of the Bug quickly.  The Bug is equipped with all manner of defenses and is constantly getting upgrades from Ted.

BB Gun  - Blue Beetle’s “gun” is only a gun in the literal sense, Ted can either fire a bright flash of light blinding his opponents or he can shoot out a burst of air able to knock down several targets.

Blue Beetle’s Scarab – The Scarab that Dan Garrett gave to Ted Kord had bestowed Dan with amazing abilities, but for some reason Ted could never get the scarab to work for him.  As the years passed Ted thought his inability to get the scarab to work was due to his mind being rooted in science, not magic.
