Atom – Al Pratt

The Short Scrapper…

Al Pratt is the quintessential short guy.  At 5’1″, Al was tired of being bullied and his relatively weak health so he devoted himself to body building and boxing and decided to don the costume reminiscent of a wrestler to take on crime as The Atom.

During World War II, Atom was with the All-Star Squadron when they fought the Ultra-Humanite and a band of villains that included Cyclotron.  Cyclotron was dying from his radiation powers and after their confrontation Atom discovered he had gained some superpowers of his own.  Given super-strength, stamina, increased reflexes, an atomic punch, and immunity to damaging radiation, Al was no longer the wimp of his childhood days.

Al adopted Cyclotron’s daughter Terri and would marry his long time girlfriend just as the JSA were forced to retire by the House Un-American Activities Committee.  Al resurfaced when the JSA came out of retirement and has been fairly active in the JSA ever since.  Al has recently discovered that his Godson, Albert Rothstein, is the powerful Nuklon of Infinity, Inc.

Powers

At first Atom did not have any super powers, but after his confrontation with Cyclotron…

Energy Punch – Al can add atomic energy to his punches which augment the damage done to a target.

Immunity to Radiation – Al Pratt is immune to all forms of atomic radiation

Super Reflexes – Al can react in quick spurts, while it is not true super-speed, like the Flash, he is much faster than a normal human.

Super Stamina – Al has a seemingly endless supply of energy.

Super Strength – Al is much stronger than a normal human man.

Vulnerabilities

Before the confrontation with Cyclotron, Al was a normal human, but after he became much more durable and harder to damage in battle and is immune to radiation damage.

Skills

Athletics – Atom is an athlete that works hard every day to perfect his physique through body building and boxing regimens.

Pugilist – While not a “martial artist” per se, Atom is a trained boxer and street fighter, skills he uses in combat often.

Scientist – Physicist – Al is a physicist by nature which helps when dealing with complicated machinery and theory.
