Amazing-Man

Man of Many Materials…

In the pre World War II America, “liberty and justice for all” did not extend to its African American citizens.  Even after the Civil War there were still basic inequities that abounded in the nation’s government and society.    Will Everett had excelled in sports and was a National hero at the Berlin Olympics.  However, his return to America led him down a road from pinnacle of a nation’s pride to janitor.

The Ultra-Humanite saw this as an opportunity and decided to use Will in one of his experiments.  The “accident” changed Will so that he gained the ability to absorb the properties of any material he touched.  If he touched wood, he became made out of living wood, the same for metals.  Using this power, the Ultra-Humanite set his new Amazing-Man on the All-Star Squadron using race baiting as his tool, since there are no African-American members of the All-Star Squadron, he would never be accepted as one of them.

At first the plan worked, but Will eventually wised up and betrayed the Ultra-Humanite joining the All-Star Squadron as one of its newer core members.

Later in his career, Will lost his material absorbing powers and gained the powers of magnetism.
