Fast Forward – The NEW DCU

On August 31st, 2011, the DCU changes with a complete line wide relaunch.  While my concentration right now is on the past when I was a little comic geek, I thought I would put some info about these new titles here for your perusal.

Some of these titles and characters we have already discussed.. others will be coming up as time moves forward and others are brand spanking new concepts to the DCU.

Below is a little snippet of what one can expect from each of the titles.

 

Action Comics

Starting over with a #1, Action features a new version of Superman that no one will know what to expect next.

 

All-Star Western

When Gotham City was a one-horse town, it took Jonah Hex to tame it.

 

Animal-Man

Buddy Baker used to be a super-hero, then he was a family man.  Now he must bring his know how to bear as his daughter Maxine begins to exhibit powers of her own.

 

Aquaman

Aquaman has renounced the throne of Atlantis, but the sea will not give him up so easily.

Batman

A series of brutal murders leads Batman into an ancient conspiracy and Batman learns that Gotham City is deadlier than he ever knew.

 

Batgirl

Barbara Gordon is back in action as Batgirl, facing some of her past demons and today’s vilest villains.

Batman and Robin

Batman must work with his Robin in his war on crime.  The hardest thing about this relationship?  Robin is his son, Damien.

Batman, the Dark Knight

Batman must run the gauntlet of insane villains in Arkham Asylum and Bruce Wayne must confront the consequences of funding Batman Incorporated.

Batwing

A member of Batman Incorporated, Batwing fights for justice in the beautiful continent of Africa.

Batwoman

Batwoman must determine who is stealing children from Gotham’s slum, The Barrio and stop it, while training her cousin as her sidekick, dealing with new information regarding the father she placed on a pedestal, and avoiding government agents who have taken a sudden interest in her activities.

Birds of Prey

Black Canary and Starling work as Gotham’s covert heroes taking down villains that other heroes can’t touch.  Their undercover operations are threatened to be exposed by their enemies and the press.

 

Blackhawks

It is a new era of warfare.  Terrorists.  Sleeper Cells. Dirty Bombs.  Hard for traditional military forces to discover before it is too late.  The Blackhawks exist to kill the bad guys, before they can kill us.

 

Blue Beetle

Jaime Reyes fights the good fight surviving as a teenager and wielder of The Scarab one of the galaxies greatest weapons.

Catwoman

Meet Selina Kyle.  She’s attracted to shiny objects.  She’s attracted to Batman.  She’s attracted to danger.  How many lives does she have?

Captain Atom

The Captain is a veritable God walking amongst men.  Can he keep his humanity or will he lose himself in the process?

DC Universe Presents

DCU Presents features all sorts of heroes, first up Deadman, in a quest against a new enemy who is determined to see those that Deadman helps, have their souls condemned in hell.

Deathstroke

Slade Wilson has been a mercenary a long time.  Some say too long.  But do not turn your back.  That’s why Slade is the best at what he does.

 

Demon Knights

Jason Blood and the demon Etrigan in the Dark Ages are fighting against a group of barbarians bent upon plunging the world into chaos.

Detective Comics

Batman is on a hunt for a vicious killer called The Gotham Ripper.  It is a game of cat and mouse and the stakes are high.

The Flash

The Flash knows he cannot be everywhere at once.  What happens when an all new villain really can be?  And what happens when it is discovered that this villain used to be a friend?

Frankenstein, Agent of S.H.A.D.E.

Frankenstein must take on missions to save people from the weird and monstrous, but since he’s vilified, will he even want to save those who are horrified by his appearance?

 

Fury of Firestorm, the Nuclear Man

Ronnie Raymond and Jason Rusch are drawn together by a nuclear conspiracy that may reignite the threat of all out global nuclear war and winter.  Can they put aside their differences and work together or will the world burn?

 

Green Arrow

Oliver Queen is on the hunt for criminals, unfortunately, he’s breaking every law to bring the outlaws to justice.  How long before his inner demons drive him to make the ultimate mistake?

Green Lantern

The Green Lantern is the greatest intergalactic hero of all time, and this time it’s Sinestro.

 

Green Lantern Corps

Guy Gardner and John Stewart lead a strike team of Green Lanterns bound to keep the peace, or else.

Green Lantern the New Guardians

Can Kyle Rayner keep this group of Lanterns from every spectrum together or will the New Guardians destroy themselves?

Grifter

Cole Cash is a charming grifter.. and the most wanted man in the DCU.  However as he hunts inhuman creatures hidden in human form only he can see, he will be branded a serial killer.  Will anyone be convinced of his motives or will he be hunted down and made to pay for his crimes?

 

Hawk and Dove

Hawk and Dove must stop forces in the U.S. before they plunge the country into a new Civil War.

 

Savage Hawkman

Carter Hall is a famous archaeologist and his gift for cryptology has caused him to discover an alien plague spreading throughout New York City.  Can he stop it before it is too late?

 

I…Vampire

Andrew Stanton kept the world safe from the forces of vampires for years thanks to a truce with Bloody Mary.  Now that the truce has been shattered in a bloody fashion, can Andrew fight off the onslaught of the vampires or succumb to his true nature?

Justice League

Superman. Wonder Woman.  Batman.  Green Lantern.  Flash.  Aquaman, Cyborg. join together to fight the first threat to unite the World’s Greatest Superheroes, Darkseid.

 

Justice League Dark

The things that go bump in the night are exactly what this team was united to fight.  Shade the Changing Man.  Madame Xanadu.  Deadman. Zatanna.  John Constantine. are the Earth’s best hope for surviving the onslaught of mystical forces.

 

Justice League International

Batman.  Booster Gold.  Guy Gardner.  August General In Iron.  Fire.  Ice.  Vixen.  Rocket Red.  are charged with promoting unity and trust— but can they reach that goal without killing each other first?

Legion Lost

Seven heroes from the 31st Century have traveled back to the past to save their future from annihilation.  But when the future tech fails and they find themselves trapped here they find themselves trapped in a nightmarish world and a fight for survival.

 

Legion of Super-Heroes

The Legion has been decimated by the worst disaster in history.  Now the students of the Legion Academy must rise ot the challenge of helping the team rebuild, but a threat of almost unstoppable power is rising at the edge of Dominator space and if the new recruits fail, the Legion Espionage Squad may be the first casualties in a war that could split worlds in half.

Red Hood and the Outlaws

The Red Hood, Arsenal, and Starfire team up in a fight to survive.

 

Red Lanterns

Atrocitus leads the Red Lanterns in a bloody war against injustice.

 

Resurrection Man

Mitch Shelly returns, and he is still dead.  With each rebirth however comes new powers.  What happens when a group of villains decide to see what can make Mitch die for good.

 

Static Shock

Virgil Hawkins the shy teen, becomes the cocky Static using his electromagnetic powers to fight crime in New York City.

Stormwatch

Apollo, Midnighter, and Martian Manhunter join the top secret meta team to handle threats that require subtlety and power.

 

Suicide Squad

A group of death row villains that are recruited by the government to take on missions so deadly, they’re suicide!

Superboy

A hybrid of human and Kryptonian dna to be used as a living weapon, what happens when Superboy gains a conscience?

Supergirl

Powerful cousin of Superman, the attitude of a teenager, and a lack of love for the people of Earth.  Is she a help or a curse?

Superman

Superman is the cause of a monstrous threat to Metropolis.. what is his relationship with Lois like now?  Jimmy?  Perry?  No time for that now, Superman has to save the day.

Swamp Thing

Alec Holland has his life back, but the forces of The Green have plans for him.

Teen Titans

Tim Drake, the new Red Robin, takes charge of a new group of Teen Titans including the thief known as Wonder Girl and the hyperactive speedster known as Kid Flash.

Voodoo

Priscilla Kitaen is hero?  villain?  or something else?  All that is known is that she is leaving a trail of blood across America.

 

Wonder Woman

The Gods walk amongst us, only one woman dare stand between mere mortals and these strange beings of limitless power.  But is she one of us, or one of them?
