And the best way to demonstrate how time keeps on slipping is to show some bookends of the DC Universe, shall we?  Lets get into our Way Back Machine ™ and head to the distant past.

Anthro, the first boy, is the first cro-magnon born in a tribe of neanderthals.  Anthro lives in primitive and dangerous times.  Anthro is an accomplished hunter, tracker, and fighter.

Now, on the flip side of Anthro we find….

Kamandi is the Last Boy on Earth, a survivor of atomic war, Kamandi remains the last human in a world where most animals that survived have evolved into these beast-humanoid hybrid forms.  These beastmen are fairly intelligent, savage, and able to use tools with ease and Kamandi is almost universally their prey, for it was humans who destroyed the Earth with nuclear fire, not the beasts.

But wait, we have the Legion remember?  The shiny future of the Legion happens on Earth too, right?  How can Kamandi and the Legion exist in the same timeline?

GOOD QUESTION!!!!

In the future, the timeline is fluid and anything can happen as no path has been set yet.   This allows for all sorts of other adventurers as well like….

Tommy Tomorrow who fights evil in a very slick sci-fi future and has more in common with Kamandi than either of them know, at least right now.

And in another future…

The Atomic Knights exist to keep order in a world gone mad after nuclear war.  Equipped with their futuristic equipment, ray guns, and without the beastmorphs its similar to Kamandi’s war torn world, but with significant differences.

So, how does one keep up with all these different time lines and which Earth they are on????

Calling Rip Hunter, Time Master.

Rip Hunter is the Time Master of the DC Universe.  If there is a time distortion to be dealt with Rip is your man.  Fortunately for you, he has probably already fixed everything that is wrong in your life without you even knowing it.  Some events cannot be changed as sad as that sounds, its true.   Along with his crew, the Time Masters, Rip is probably one of the coolest regular guys in the DCU.

Meanwhile, Birdmen of 2000 BC huh??? :)   Yeah, missed that one on the evening news.  Thanks Rip!!!
