In the Legion of Super-Heroes #300, the Legion is assembling for its re-dedication ceremony. This ceremony takes place every so often, but this is the most elaborate one we have seen on panel. As additional Legionnaires arrive to the headquarters we see Element Lad, Ultra Boy, and Phantom Girl welcoming Superboy and then his cousin Supergirl to the party. Supergirl inquires where Brainiac Five is, and Invisible Kid II (along with the dyed energies of a pouting Wildfire) show up and Jacques asks the same question and that leads us into the meat of the story.
Brainiac Five, Circadius Senius, and Rond Vidar are working on a patient at the Time Institute, it is an odd thing to have a medical patient here, but odd is what Brainiac Five specializes in. Apparently this patient has accessed some ability to transfer his consciousness incompletely from one multiverse to another, and in each universe, there exists another Legion. The question becomes how to help the patient and how to cure him. Vidar has invented a machine that enables Brainy to view the man’s dreams to see what he is seeing.
SUPERBOY RESIGNS EARLY
The first dream takes them to the classic Silver Age of Superboy in Smallville, USA in the 20th century. There Superboy is being confronted by Lex Luthor has taken honorary Legionnaires Lana Lang/Insect Queen and Pete Ross hostage. The Legion swoops in to save Superboy’s friends as Lightning Lad fries a robot and Cosmic Boy pulls one apart. The Legion were responding to Pete’s summoning from the special coin they gave him. The original Invisible Kid, Lyle Norg, slugs Luthor and Colossal Boy destroys Luthor’s device. The Legion invites all three of the Smallville natives to the future with then for a meeting in the 30th century. Superboy announces his resignation to the Legion because Ma and Pa Kent died and he now has to become Superman. Superman swore an oath to Pa Kent to protect Earth and its people. No more time traveling, no more space travel, etc.., The dream then fades as the patient’s consciousness shifts to another world.
C.O.M.P.U.T.O REIGNS
The dream opens upon Shanghalla, the cemetery of the heroes in the future. We see a group of Legionnaires and Substitute Legionnaires mourning their fallen. The list of the fallen: Cosmic Boy,Lightning Lad, Invisible Kid, Mon-El, Shrinking Violet, and Brainiac Five. Saturn Girl immediately inducts the Legion of Substitute Heroes as actual Legionnaires stating the need for new Legionnaires given the fact that C.O.M.P.U.T.O has teamed up with the Legion of Super-Villains; Cosmic King, Saturn Queen, and Lightning Lord. The villainous computer kills the remaining bodies of the newly christened Duo Damsel and then Polar Boy attacks the computer with absolute zero and the backlash kills Polar Boy and Colossal Boy. Then the dream abruptly ends as the patient had difficulty dealing with so much death.
REMEMBER THIS?

In the 30th Century proper, Mon-El mocks Shadow “Woman” on the Science Asteroid, including her new Caucasian makeup as being completely silly and dizzy, however this moment of levity is cut short when the Khunds attack the Science Asteroid. A large humanoid looking ship approaches and begins to blast at them.
I hate looking at it Mon-El, I feel like someone is walking on my grave. – Shadow Lass
FATAL FUTURE
The Adult Legion confronts the Fatal Five in the future. The Legion is far from the young group of teenagers here. Karate King, Element Lad, Timber Wolf, Sun Man, and Chameleon Man take out the Fatal Five fairly quickly. Sun Man walks through the Hall of Heroes, where there is a Shadow Woman statue along with Matter-Eater Lad, Saturn Girl, Cosmic Boy, and Queen Projectra. Sun Man stops and talks to Ferro Lad’s statue, still feeling guilt about Ferro Lad’s death. Ferro Lad’s brother is mentioned as a pawn of the Super-Villains. Karate King shows up to comfort his friend, as he reveals Projectra was killed by a flu epidemic he brought to Orando.
It is at this point that the reader can make the assumption that the patient is actually Douglas Nolan, twin brother of the original Ferro Lad. Douglas shares Andrew’s powers and his disfigurement. This is confirmed by the conversation amongst the three scientists.
Back at the Legion HQ, Chameleon Boy arrives with his father, R.J. Brande and he meets the White Witch for the first time as Cosmic Boy gives her a tour of the Legion. Cham is powerless, but he has a plan for that.
EARTHWAR RIPS THE LEGION APART
The Legion is made up of mostly male members with the exception of Phantom Girl. The United Planets is in the midst of fighting in Earthwar, but will not let the Legion participate because they will not kill. The Legion in this universe retained the rule about married members were forced to leave the team, which resulted in the loss of “most of the saner members of the team”, per the now retired Dream Girl enjoying retired life with her husband Star Boy. It is also revealed that Saturn Girl, Lightning Lad, and Cosmic Boy are also retired.
The active roster at the meeting appears to be Wildfire, Sun Boy, Colossal Boy, Ultra Boy, Phantom Girl, Superman, Tyroc, Element Lad, Chemical King, and Chameleon Boy.
Dead heroes photographs are on the wall include Ferro Lad, Invisible Kid I, Karate Kid, and Shadow Lass.
Superman leaves the Legion, never to return as the Legion has voted to allow for them to kill in combat. The Legion enters the fray to battle back the Khund invasion. We see the Legion fighting as part of a ground force and Tyroc being killed by an energy blast that goes through his chest.
Back in the present on the Science Asteroid, the Khunds are attacking and Mon-El and Shadow Lass attempt to defeat it, but Shadow Lass is a bit outclassed as Mon-El zips in the way to block a blast. Shadow Lass heads back to the asteroid and discovers from Queeg that the power supply has been damaged, and if it blows up, well there goes everyone. Shadow Lass goes in and attempts to stop the catastrophe.
MORDRU RULES ALL
In this alternate world, Mordru the Merciless has taken over all in the United Planets, the Legion and isolated pockets of resistance still exist. Mordru sends out his bug demons to destroy the remaining Legionnaires. On Korbal, Lightning Lad, Light Lass, and Saturn Girl hold off the demons by supercharging Lighting Lad in the electrified atmosphere.
On Orando, Projectra, Dream Girl, and White Witch are preparing a spell to destroy Mordru. The demons are attracted to them however and the Legionnaires guarding the ceremony are attacked as Cosmic Boy is speared by one of the demons. The spell takes off and it sucks all the wizards into a vortex as the spell works and drains Mordru. The remaining Legionnaires: Brainiac Five, Shrinking Violet, Dawnstar, Lightning Lad, Saturn Girl, Light Lass, Phantom Girl, Karate Kid, and Shadow Lass are left to rebuild civilization.
LEGION TRAITOR
In the era of the Legion where Colossal Boy’s mother is Earth President and Lightning Lad is in charge of the Legion we find the Legion an endless bickering mass of confusion. Brainiac Five and Matter-Eater Lad are insane. Ultra Boy has been presumed dead and Phantom Girl has left the Legion in order to mourn him. Shrinking Violet quit the Legion due to Imsk, her homeworld, leaving the UP.
A few of the hotter tempers flare and a fight ensues. Blok leaves in disgust at this display.
New Legionnaires Blok and Dawnstar speak briefly about the insanity of the Legion, but Blok is too inexperienced in order to judge appropriately. We then see Blok alone, but in communication with The Dark Man, a clone of Tharok. Blok steps through the portal and leaves behind an explosive device. The device explodes and kills all the Legionnaires within the building.
FINAL DESTINATION PART ONE
Douglas Nolan is revealed at last, the man behind the mask. Brainy has deduced how to cure Douglas, by attuning him to a world where Douglas is accepted as a replacement for his brother in the Legion as Ferro Lad II. When Brainy finds this world Douglas smiles and says “YES” and he simply disappears.
FINAL DESTINATION PART TWO

EPILOGUE
Mon-El and Queeg discuss how much they have lost in the recent battle. The dialogue is pointing to Shadow Lass’ death, but instead Shadow Lass reappears at the end of the story with a new costume. Having cheated a “destined” death, Shady lives to fight evil another day. The two Legionnaires leave the Science Asteroid and head back to the Legion’s headquarters for the ceremony.

Next Up: We head back to the Outsiders for a little bit as we learn the origins of Katana and Halo.l
