We continue our look at the non-super powered characters of World War II today with..

Well, he’s Unknown right?

The Soldier is typically seen wearing bandages, a la The Mummy, due to his facial scarring. This does give the Soldier an advantage as he is also a master of disguise, convenient right? He uses all sorts of latex masks to assume the identity of other individuals. His Kryptonite? the latex itches (perhaps he has an allergy) and the itching gives him away.

The Soldier’s gift for disguise leads him into many missions behind enemy lines and he even disguised Hitler at one point in a story. Presumed dead at the end of WWII, his death has always been mysterious as there is always someone in the comic scratching at their face in the same way the Soldier did.

Marie, a simple farm girl, and her father lived in Occupied France during WWII and were on their way to meet with the French Resistance, her father met his end and Marie, last name unrevealed, fought internally against the fascist forces of the Axis. Marie is notable for being the only shown love interest of Sgt. Rock. Of course, this love did not last, and it is assumed that Marie was killed in action.

Many years follow and a woman named Julia Remarque shows up in Gotham City claiming to be Mme. Marie’s daughter.. so did the French Resistance Fighter and the Man in charge of Easy Company have a chance at a tryst?

Ahh, it’s great to have a movie about a comic property out and getting half way decent reviews. If you are into action movies I hear going to see The Losers is a good move on your part.

In the comics the Losers are four men, the eye patch wearing Captain Storm, Navajo Ace Johnny Cloud, the baby faced Gunner, and the cigar chomping Sarge.. and their mascot Pooch. All of these men were deemed “losers” by their commands and so it made complete sense to put them together and see if they could survive. They did until 1985, but that’s another story. A MUCH bigger story.

These new movie based Losers are an elite fighting force that are sent to accomplish a mission that goes awry and as a result they are cut loose from their command who disavow any knowledge of their work. The Losers then make it a point to get revenge on those who betrayed them and trying to stay alive while they do it.

Hopefully movie goers will find this spiced up A-Team worthwhile. They certainly do have star power, sex appeal, and some great stories behind them. With the ramping up of the comic book movie as its own genre, Hollywood is going to most likely going to need more in the way of action heroes. Chris Evans can’t play everyone, though I know I would like him to.

Next Up: Commandoes: Boy, Creature, and Viking.
